IMANA volunteer Dr. Ayesha Mian feeding a 7-day old infant formula via syringe
This child was born by C-section the day before the earthquake. Her mother survived, but was badly injured with severe burns and was not able to nurse here for several days. Other family members did the best they could, resorting to sugar water and animal's milk to keep her alive. Unfortunately, this lead to diarrhea, vomiting, and inevitably dehydration. Here, Dr. Ayesha Mian is seen rehydrating the infant with formula donated for earthquake victims via syringe. After being treated for her injuries, her mother was in a much better condition to nurse her daughter.
