Dr. Imran Khan of Northern Virginia, an orthopedic surgeon, prepared today for his departure to Haiti tomorrow by making changes to his cell phone plan and gathering personal items. He will be a member of IMANA Relief Team 2 for Haiti, which will be lead by anesthesiologist Ismail Mehr. The combination of surgical and anesthesiology skills may allow the team to upgrade their capabilities from minor procedures to more involved surgeries if they have access to the correct equipment. Dr. Khan had been busy gathering orthopedic and surgical supplies that are still valuable to victims of the earthquake, such as crutches, suture, and casting material seen below. Dr. Khan leaves tomorrow morning.
