Intense Activity in Port-au-Prince

IMANA and NOAH-NY physicians working in Port-au-Prince  report that the site is seeing over 300 patients per day. With a generous donation by Fairfax, Virginia-based firefighters who brought an enclosed commercial tent with lights, tables and generator, a formal operating room is being constructed.

Earlier in the day, NOAH-NY and IMANA doctors helped perform an amputation of the foot. A female in her 20s presented with a crush injury of the foot.  Other procedures being performed include multiple wound debridements under anesthesia, cerclage placements, and treatment of neurological illness.
